Bempton Village

Bempton village and RSPB Nature Reserve 5 miles from Bridlington

Bempton village is well known for its cliffs. Bempton Cliffs is a RSPB nature reserve, best known for its breeding seabirds, including Northern Gannet, Atlantic Puffin, Razorbill, Common Guillemot, Black-legged Kittiwake and Fulmar. It is one of the best places in England to see seabirds.

Bempton also used to be home to RAF Bempton, an early warning station. Some of the old buildings are still visible from the cliff top.

More than 200,000 birds during the months of April to August make the cliffs a fascinating and lively place for a visit. Even if you are not a seasoned bird watcher there is plenty to see and beginners will find it easy to tell the difference between the various breeds of birds.

The reserve is open all year round, from March to October the visitor centre opens daily from 10 am until 5pm. From November to February the centre is open 10am to 4pm.

The Yorkshire Belle has boat trips to the cliffs during the summer period and is a great way to view the cliffs.
