Uncover your family history
Bridlington Local Studies Library's range of family history resources includes: e-genealogy (free access to, parish registers on and other genealogical websites), census returns, monumental inscriptions, parish registers, poll books, trade directories and registers of electors.

A free family history help desk runs on the first Saturday of every month from 9am - 1pm.

Historical newspapers are available on microfilm, with various titles ranging from the 1843 Burlington and East Riding Advertiser to this week’s Bridlington Free Press. The ‘Annals of Bridlington’, 1867–1942 comprise an annual series of indexed newscuttings.

Books and Pamphlets
Bridlington Local Studies Library collect a wide range of books and pamphlets covering Bridlington and the historic East Riding of Yorkshire, as well as Yorkshire and Humberside.

Bridlington Local Studies Library hold a collection of historical East Riding maps, including a selection of pre-enclosure maps. Ordnance Survey maps covering Bridlington and District are available in several different series, ranging from the 1853 to the present day.*

Bridlington Local Studies Library have a variety of local publications including family and local history magazines.

Photographs and Postcards
View an extensive collection of photographs, illustrations and postcards covering Bridlington and the surrounding area.

People and Events
Learn about interesting individuals such as the architect William Kent, aviator Amy Johnson and why Lawrence of Arabia came to Bridlington. Find out about events such as the 1779 Battle of Flamborough Head, The Great Gale of 1871 and the 1919 Peace Pageant.

Special collections
Bridlington Local Studies Library have specific collections covering a variety of topics, such as Bridlington harbour, Flamborough, stamps and postal history and wartime scrapbooks. These include letters, books, newspaper articles and more and are always pleased to receive material of this nature.

The library is on the first floor and is accessible by stairs and lift.
